
A&P was awarded an Honor Award from Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers (FICE) EEA competition for the Design-Build of a 54-inchRedundant Force Main Utilizing Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD). Thirty projects were submitted and six projects were selected for GRAND firm/projects and five projects were selected as HONOR awards. The awards will be distributed at the 102nd Annual Conference FICE Banquet held August 3rd, 2018 at the JW Marriot Marco Island Beach Resort.
The FICE Public Relations Committee selected the distinguished panel of judges representing government, media, transportation, education, environmental/water resources, public works, geotechnical and electrical design. Assembled in Orlando mid-November were Shannon LaRocque, PE, Village of Wellington; Curtis Brown, Esq., Wright, Fulford, Moorhead, & Brown Attorneys; Jim Flynt, PE, Orange County Utilities; Terry Puckett, PE, Florida Department of Transportation District I and VII; Michael Moorhead, EI, 2016-17 FES Student Board Rep.; and Troy Attaway, PE, City of Winter Park.
The judges rated projects and studies on the basis of uniqueness and innovative applications; future value to the engineering profession; perception by the public; social, economic, and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owners’ needs, including schedule and budget. A special thank you to FICE Public Relations Chair Marcia Feldman of Kimley-Horn for facilitating this competition and to Curtis Brown and Wright, Fulford, Moorhead, & Brown for graciously hosting the judging at their Altamonte office.
