N.W. 37th Avenue Reconstruction

Highway and Roadway Design

SCOPE OF WORK

This project was funded by the People’s Transportation Plan Fund. This portion of N.W. 37th Avenue/Douglas Road is an existing North/South two-lane road that extends approximately 2.72 miles from N.W. North River Drive to N.W. 79th Street. A&P Engineers was responsible for preparing the Construction Plan Set for the entire segment of this urban corridor, including roadway reconstruction, compliance with ADA requirements, drainage, lighting, signing and pavement marking design. The proposed typical section includes one 13.5’ thru lane in each direction, a 13’ two-way left turn, 2’ valley gutters, 7’ parking lanes and 6’ concrete sidewalk on both sides. This project also included upgrading 1 signalized intersection from span-wire to mast-arm and modifying 3 existing signalized intersections to match the proposed typical section. Additionally, 4 of the existing railroad crossings were upgraded and 2 abandoned crossings were removed.
